Using them in a center
Teachers see a child for hours every day, so they often notice first. A checklist gives the teacher and the family the same words to talk about it. It is not a screening and does not replace one.
“Don't wait. If your child is not meeting one or more milestones, has lost skills he or she once had, or you have other concerns, act early. Talk with your child's doctor, share your concerns, and ask about developmental screening.” (CDC)
The lists are CDC's, from Learn the Signs. Act Early. (cdc.gov/ActEarly), as read on October 1, 2026. Using CDC's materials does not imply endorsement by CDC, HHS or the U.S. Government of Farlow or its services.
The checklist, sent to families for you
In Farlow, each child's page opens CDC's checklist when they reach the age. The room and the family both answer it, families are reminded until it's done, and a Not yet gets a follow-up only staff see.
