Child care software for Michigan centers
The parts of running a center that depend on your state, set up for Michigan instead of left for you to build.
Immunizations by your state's schedule
Each child's vaccines are checked against the CDC childhood schedule for their age, so the office sees who is due.
Staff-child ratios in Michigan
From Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers, R 400.8222, Capacity, ratio and group size, Table 1. In Farlow you set these bands once, and every room is counted against them as children check in and out.
| Age | Children per staff member | Largest group |
|---|---|---|
| Infants and toddlers, birth until 30 months | 4 | 12 |
| Preschoolers, 30 months until 3 years | 8 | 24 |
| Preschoolers, 3 years until 4 years | 10 | 30 |
| Preschoolers, 4 years until school age | 12 | 40 |
| School-aged children | 18 | 54 |
In a group of mixed ages, the youngest child's ratio and group size apply to the whole group (Mich. Admin. Code R 400.8222(8)).
With written permission from the parent, a child of 33, 45 or 57 months may move up to the next classroom and takes that room's ratio. Small capacity centers use 1 to 6 with a group of 20 (R 400.8222(5) to (7), (15)).
Read on November 1, 2026 from the state's published rule. The rule itself is what an inspector goes by.
