Child care software for District of Columbia centers
The parts of running a center that depend on your state, set up for District of Columbia instead of left for you to build.
Immunizations by your state's schedule
Each child's vaccines are checked against the CDC childhood schedule for their age, so the office sees who is due.
District of Columbia licensing forms, ready to send to families
2 official forms, fetched from the state's own site and kept in Farlow's form library. Pick one, mark where the answers go, and families fill it in and sign on their phone, with reminders until it comes back. Each name below opens the form on the state's own site.
DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Child Care Licensing
- Medication Administration Authorization Form (1 page, checked )
DC Health
- Universal Health Certificate (DC Health, 2025-09) (4 pages, checked )
The date by each form is the day Farlow last matched it against the state's site. A weekly check flags any link that stops working or whose file changes. States revise their forms, and the state's site has the current one.
Staff-child ratios in District of Columbia
From District of Columbia Municipal Regulations, Title 5-A, Chapter 1, Child Development Facilities: Licensing, § 121 Adult-to-Child Ratios and Group Size. In Farlow you set these bands once, and every room is counted against them as children check in and out.
| Age | Children per staff member | Largest group |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 24 months | 4 | 8 |
| 24 to 30 months | 4 | 12 |
| 30 to 48 months | 8 | 16 |
| 48 to 60 months | 10 | 20 |
| School age, under 6 | 12 | 24 |
| School age, 6 and older | 15 | 30 |
In a group of mixed ages, the youngest child's ratio and group size apply to the whole group (5-A DCMR § 121.6).
Every group in a child development center has at least two staff at all times, two teachers or a teacher with an assistant or aide, even when the ratio needs fewer. School-age numbers are for out-of-school-time care. A child who is not yet walking counts as under two (5-A DCMR § 121).
Read on October 29, 2026 from the state's published rule. The rule itself is what an inspector goes by.
