Child care software for Kansas centers
The parts of running a center that depend on your state, set up for Kansas instead of left for you to build.
Immunizations by your state's schedule
Each child's vaccines are checked against the CDC childhood schedule for their age, so the office sees who is due.
Staff-child ratios in Kansas
From Kansas Administrative Regulations 28-4-428, Staff requirements (child care centers and preschools), with definitions in 28-4-420. In Farlow you set these bands once, and every room is counted against them as children check in and out.
| Age | Children per staff member | Largest group |
|---|---|---|
| Infants (under 12 months) | 3 or 4 | 9 or 8 |
| Toddlers, 12 to 23 months | 6 | 12 |
| 24 to 29 months | 7 | 14 |
| 2½ to 3 years | 7 | 14 |
| 3 years to school age | 12 | 24 |
| School age | 16 | 32 |
Where two numbers are given, the rule lets the center choose: the first ratio goes with the first group size.
In a group of mixed ages, the rule's own age groups apply (the table below): the narrowest one that holds every child in the group (K.A.R. 28-4-428(a)(2)).
| Group | Children per staff member | Largest group |
|---|---|---|
| Infants and other children under 6 | 6, at most 3 infants each | 12, at most 6 infants |
| Toddlers | 6 | 12 |
| At least 2 but under 3 | 7 | 14 |
| At least 2½ but under school age | 12 | 24 |
| School age | 16 | 32 |
Only one infant ratio may be used at a time in a unit. School age starts at kindergarten age, taken here as 5 (28-4-420, 28-4-428(a)).
Read on November 1, 2026 from the state's published rule. The rule itself is what an inspector goes by.
