Farlow

Turn on two-step sign-in

Two-step sign-in, sometimes called 2FA, asks for a code as well as your password, so a guessed or leaked password is not enough to get in.

Where: Your profile > Two-step sign-in

On the web, Your profile

The Two-step sign-in switch on a profile, with the line about a six-digit code by email and the link to use an authenticator app instead.
Sample center, made-up names.

Anyone can turn it on for themselves. Requiring it for others is the director's, in Settings.

  1. 1.

Tap your name at the top of the page to open Your profile.

  2. 2.

Tick Two-step sign-in. From now on Farlow emails you a six-digit code each time you sign in.

  3. 3.

To use an app on your phone instead of email, tap Use an authenticator app instead of email codes. Scan the code with the app, type the number it shows in Code from the app, and tap Turn on.

  4. 4.

Farlow shows your recovery codes once. Copy or Download them, keep them somewhere safe, tick I have saved my recovery codes and tap Done.

  5. 5.

To require it for others, open Settings, then Security and devices, find the Security card and tick Require two-step sign-in for the office. Tick Require two-step sign-in for teachers too. as well if you want it for the rooms.

At the next sign-in, after the password, Farlow asks for the Code: from your email (it works once, for ten minutes) or from your app. A recovery code works in the same box. The Team page shows which kind of two-step each person uses.

Questions

Do I have to type a code every time?
On a computer you trust, tick Remember this device for 30 days when you type the code. That device skips the code for 30 days.
What if I lose my phone with the authenticator app?
Sign in with one of your recovery codes instead of the app's code. Each one works once. Then make new ones from your profile.
Can my staff switch it off?
Not when you require it. The office, and teachers if you ticked that box too, keep it on. Families always choose for themselves.
